From the 7th-12th September 2010, Mt Barney Lodge will be hosting the 2nd annual Bird Week!
Over one exciting week, Mount Barney Lodge will be hosting bird experts who will conduct talks, tours, slideshows and workshops to extend your birding knowledge.
Barry Davies from Gondwana Guides (Winner of the 2005 and 2009 Australian Eco Guide of the Year) will be the lead guide for the field trips, and will conduct all the guided bird walks.
Michael Snedic, co-owner of Trekabout Photography Workshops is one of Australia’s most accomplished nature/wildlife photographers, with a special interest in native birds. Follow our Blog to find out more about Michaels unique expertise. At the Mt Barney Lodge Bird Week, Michael will be presenting an audio-visual and a hands-on workshop on bird photography.
This Birdweek program is suitable for amateurs or experienced birders alike.
Bird week is held during National Threatened Species Week, and we take time to reflect on and appreciate the unique local biodiversity. The threatened Glossy Black Cockatoo and endangered Eastern Bristlebird are both local inhabitants of the Mt Barney Area.
National Threatened Species Day is a time for us to consider the impact we can have on the natural environment. Mt Barney Lodge has an onsite conservation project for the Glossy Black Cockatoo, is a partner of the Glossy Black Conservancy, and supports Eastern Bristlebird surveys in the area.

Birdweek is a great opportunity for the community to have a Picnic Under The Stars
The spring star-studded sky and Mt Barney massif will be the perfect backdrop for “Picnic Under The Stars” at Mt Barney Lodge. This is a free community event held at Mt Barney Lodge each year, and forms part of the Birdweek activities. Read more.
