Don't let this happen to you!
See the SES rescue a stranded school group.
When traveling in National Parks, including Mt Barney National Park, ALWAYs check conditions and weather forecasts before adventuring into the wilderness.
Here are some invaluable websites you MUST check before your leave for your trek into the bush:
Bureau of Meteorology - Always check the rainfall forecast and the local forecast. You can also check any flood warnings that may be current in the area you will be visiting.
Road closures due to high river levels - If river levels are up over roads, then walking tracks over river crossings will be treacherous.
National Parks websites are always up to date with any road closures or fire risks.
QldAlert is a real-time site for all alerts including fire danger, flooding, road closures etc.
Or if you are staying with us at Mt Barney Lodge, we can keep you informed.
