The Scenic Rim Regional Council is again organising a unique local food event in 2013 to showcase the food bowl of Brisbane and the Gold Coast. The extensive program goes for 8 days – from June 23-30, and is region-wide. There is a focus on fresh food, wine and all things grown and produced in the Scenic Rim.
Mt Barney Lodge is just one of the many participants, and this year we will introduce “Wild Pizza” for teenagers as part of our June July school holiday Adventure Program. Bookings are essential.
Saturday 29th June 5pm – 7.30pm
This eco activity allows teenagers to discover the natural environment while collecting and handpicking ingredients for ‘wild pizzas’, which are cooked in a traditional camping oven (or dutch oven) over the hot coals of a campfire. We share one of our tried and true camp oven recipes with you to create a really crispy thick-based pizza. Afterwards, they hang out and enjoy lemon myrtle tea by the campfire.
Address: Mt Barney Lodge,
1093 Upper Logan Rd, Mt Barney
Bookings: Tel 5544 3233 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Info: For 13-17 year olds. Please bring warm clothes, torch, walking shoes, water bottle
Both agriculture and tourism are pivotal to the prosperity of the Scenic Rim. They contribute over $210 million annually to the regional economy and account for over 30% of the registered businesses in the region.
Now in its third year, Eat Local Week celebrates these growers, producers and businesses with a wide variety of events held right across the region that will engage, educate and delight the palate. There is something for everyone in the program – we hope to see you there!
