Activities at Mount Barney Lodge

You will have plenty of time to experience the quiet wilderness that is unique to Mt Barney Lodge.

While away the hours in the sunshine on a squatters chair on an authentic Queenslander veranda with a book, or watch the ever-changing views of Mt Barney.

Pack a small backpack with bird and nature books, and binoculars, and explore the ridges and gullies surrounding the Lodge, whilst discovering our abundant wildlife.

Explore the many short walks we can recommend between 1 and 5 hours duration. Or hike the nearby peaks.

Our property has full creek frontage. It is great for rock-hopping along, or following the grassy trail with our self-guided interpretative walk. Kids love to splash and play in the crystal clear pools, and if you are really lucky, the resident platypus may be seen.

For facilitated Adventure Activities with qualified and experienced group leaders then please check our Calendar of Events and Adventure Activities for Details.

DAIRY FARM VISIT
This local dairy has been run by the Klan family for 85 years. You will experience the afternoon milking time with the Klan family and their 100 Aussie Red cows in a rustic working dairy farm setting. You will come away with memories of hand feeding greedy calves, a tour of the milk operation, and experience manual and machine milking. There is an emphasis on gadgets and techniques used by the pioneers.

RATHDOWNEY MUSEUM
Tour this community museum at the Rathdowney Tourist Information Centre. Hear some of the local stories first hand, and see objects of use and memorabilia collected by our local pioneering forefathers.

LOCAL VINEYARDS
Savor the mountainous setting and the nearby wines of local vineyards. Mt Barney is part of a regional wine trail that extends from Boonah to Beaudesert. Ask us for a wine trail map.
