Children’s Night-time Adventure – Starting at the camping
ground at 6pm we’ll walk and spotlight along the creek finding
many of the local animals and plants before heading up to a superb lookout
for a sausage sizzle, damper cooking, stargazing and night games. We
arrive back at the campground at 8:30pm and deliver the children to their
well-rested parents.

CREATE Activities:
‘Have you ever really explored the bush? Have you ever tasted wild bush foods, touched a leaf that felt like sandpaper, smelt the zesty leaves of a bush lemon tree, listened to the cicadas, or created something out of every-day items?’
CREATE (Children’s Recreational and Environmental Activities That Educate) is our holiday program for kid’s designed to allow one to explore, imagine, and create.

Children’s Rogaining (Orienteering with attitude) - Have fun while
gaining some introductory navigation skills. This 2+ hour activity is
based on our property with children navigating to find well hidden clues
needed to solve the puzzle at the end. Followed (seasonally) by a supervised
creek swim.

Abseiling
You can choose to learn to abseil on the scenic slopes of Mt Gilles located
behind Mt Barney Lodge. Not only will you be excited and challenged
by learning the process of knot tying, belaying and abseiling, but
you will be inspired by the breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains.
You can even see the Lodge from your elevated position. This is a 5-hour activity that includes a led bushwalk to and from the abseiling site
and is best done in the morning hours when the cliffs are in shade.

Beginner Rock Climbing - Learn beginner skills while having fun on Mt
Gilles, and enjoy the included bushwalk and spectacular views. You can
even see the Lodge from your elevated position. All equipment and training
is provided when you come with us. This is a 5-hour activity that includes
a led bushwalk to and from the climbing site and is best done in the

Campcraft Night Adventure – Cooking Edition
This 4hr activity is designed for the older children who are looking
for more of a challenge. The programme starts with a rope and pioneering
session where the participants will make their own tripod for use later
in the Billy Boiling competition. After the competition we will teach
the participants how to safely cook on a Triangia Stove, followed by
dinner. If time permits, some night games will round off an excellent
night out.

This 4hr activity is designed for older children who are looking for
more of a challenge. The programme starts with a short lesson on navigation
after which the participants are accompanied on a night walk, which
they are encouraged to navigate independently. After the walk, we will
teach the participants how to safely cook on a Triangia Stove, followed
by dinner. If time permits, some night games will round off an excellent
night out.

Wildflowers Walk through Mt Barney National Park - Enjoy the freedom
and solitude of World Heritage-listed Mt Barney National Park, and take
advantage of our experience and local knowledge. When participating on
this full day bushwalk, you get to leave the tracks behind and explore
the places very few people know about. On this walk our Guides will seek
out areas that are flowering, allowing you to come in close contact with
the seasonal wildflowers. Orchids, Alpine Flowers and many others are
seen on these walks.

Hidden Valley Challenge
Be guided to a Hidden Valley with a spectacular waterfall drop, which
requires the navigational knowledge and abseiling techniques provided
by the leader. This is a full day expedition in which you will be guided
down into the gorge, abseiling over two waterfalls before arriving at
a spectacular 80m corkscrew waterfall for a swim. Climbing out via a
different route will keep you interested throughout the day.

Mount Barney Expeditions
For the more adventurous, a guided expedition up Mt Barney is the ultimate
challenge. Enjoy the freedom and solitude of World Heritage-listed
Mt Barney National Park, and take advantage of our experience and local
knowledge. When participating on a mountain expedition, you get to
leave the tracks behind and explore some of the more challenging ridges
and routes available. Interpretive information on plants, animals,
history and geology of the area will contribute to this memorable experience.
This activity requires a high level of fitness with the day taking anywhere
between 8-14 hrs.

Navigation Workshops
This 2½-day course is aimed at getting all
participants to be competent at navigating in difficult and trackless
terrains. It includes
theory, a navigation-training manual to keep, and multiple walks based
from the Lodge to really test out your new knowledge and skills. We will
be accessing some of the wilderness areas and potentially navigating
through rainforest. The course begins on the first night and has two
full days following, and is particularly suited to a weekend.

Sunset Eco walk
Imagine finishing the day watching the sunset over Mt Barney at our lookout
after an interpretive stroll around our property finishing off with
a glass of Barney Ck Wine, delightfully combined with homemade bread,
Rathlogan Olive oil and local cheeses. Our guide(s) will show you many
of the local plants and animals and how they interact with each other
and the environment during this 1½ hr activity.

Interpretive walk
Following the Logan River upstream we will
spend 2hrs looking at local plants and animals and how they interact
with the environment. Habitats
for endangered species like the Glossy Black Cockatoo and the Brush Tailed
Rock Wallaby will be passed through with opportunities for sightings.
Resources like “Mangrove to Mountains – A guide to native
plants in South East Qld and N.E. NSW” will be available and their
use demonstrated to allow those with further interest to explore by themselves.

Mt
Ernest Traverse
For the more adventurous, a guided expedition along the
Organ Pipes of Mt Ernest is spectacular. Enjoy the freedom and solitude
of World
Heritage-listed Mt Barney National Park, and take advantage of our experience
and local knowledge. Gaze with wonder at the many faces of Mt Barney
as you travel along the top of the Rhyolite columns that make Mt Gillies
so unique. This expedition travels through many different habitats and
is an excellent walk to encounter wildflowers almost all year round.

Mt Lindesay Base Walk
With such an impressive cliff line making this mountain look like a
wedding cake many people gaze and wonder how this mountain is climbed.
Whilst
this expedition does not attempt the summit cliffs, you will be completely
awestruck when reaching the base and looking up at the towering cliffs
above you.
We start at the Collins border gate and travel through beautiful rich
rainforest before the country turns to open forest up on the main ridge
line. This route also travels through a wide variety of habitats with
grandfather
beard making the journey seem prehistoric. Our guides will show you the
climbing route before descending back through the rainforest to the grassy
ridge and Collins Gap.

Rainforest Explore
Mt Barney National Park has two different types of Rainforest that
are begging to be explored. The sub tropical rainforest is more readily
accessed and provides the greatest abundance of species. The cool
temperate
rainforest on Mt Ballow gives participants the chance to gaze upon
the ancient Antarctic Beach tree and imagine life in Jurassic Park.
Interpretive information on the rainforests hidden treasures will be
provided on the walk.

Advanced Rock Climbing
Be challenged on some higher-level climbs at Mt Gillies with grades
up to 18+. Our leaders can challenge all ability levels. This is
a 5-hour activity that includes a led bushwalk to and from the climbing site

Prior climbing experience is necessary to enjoy and succeed in this
activity.

Lead Climbing at Mt French
Come with us to Mt French (aptly named Frogs Buttress) to experience
lead climbing at Queensland’s premier crack climbing crag. This
is a 6+ hour activity that involves us driving you to Mt French near
Boonah. You will get to experience Lead Climbing and will learn how
to belay a lead climber as well as understanding how to remove natural
protection from the cliff face. The cracks at Mt French will surprise
you with their hidden tricks and the view from the top of each climb
is magnificent. Prior climbing experience is necessary to enjoy and
succeed in this activity.

A lunch
stop at one of the fabulous cafes or pubs in Boonah can be arranged before
returning home.

we will be engaging in.
Razorback Ridge Rock climb
Accessed from the Lodge this multi pitch rock climb soars 100m above
surrounding landscape. A full day activity this is not for the height
challenged. Your guide will climb up 30m to an anchor point on the
side of the cliff and then each of you will climb up to that spot.
From there your guide will then climb on again for another 50m and
repeat the process. Our lunch spot is a notch at the top of the second
pitch before we tackle the third pitch (20m) that sees us at the
top of the buttress with spectacular views. Take time to look out
at Mt
Barney and the Lodge before descending back to your accommodation venue.
