Mt Barney Expedition – via North Ridge to North Peak and descent via Rocky Creek
11 July @ 5:00 am - 4:00 pm
Very occasionally we guide groups up the untracked and little-used North Ridge to the North Peak of Mt Barney and return via Rocky Creek.
It is steep and exposed in places, however no rockclimbing is needed. This is the sort of walk where a guide is essential to make it efficiently to the top, and to allow you to enjoy the journey, rather than white-knuckle it alone! This walk is both physically and mentally challenging, and is for the more adventurous bushwalker who has already had some experience on Mt Barney.
A pre-requisite for your safety and cohesiveness of the group is that you must have already done the Mt Barney SE Ridge with Mt Barney Lodge guides.
Interpretive information on plants, animals, history and geology of the area provided by the Outdoor Leaders will contribute to this memorable experience.
We strongly recommend that you stay overnight with Mt Barney Lodge as the hike commences at 5am sharp – camping, cabins and homesteads are able to be booked, subject to availability. (it’s not a bad idea to stay on the afternoon of your return as well, as there is nothing better than regarding your efforts at sunset and relaxing after a huge day).
This walk is best done in winter.
