We’re delighted you’ve chosen to stay with us. Our aim is to provide a peaceful country escape where everyone can relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Mt Barney. These terms help ensure every guest has a safe and enjoyable stay.
Reservations
All guests must check in at Reception on arrival – Before setting up camp
Reception hours:
- Monday – Thursday: 8:00am – 4:00pm
- Friday: 8:00am – 6:00pm
- Saturday–Sunday: 9:00am – 3:00pm
Children prices are ages 3 – 13yrs
Camping check-in: 12:00pm
Accommodation check-in: 2:00pm
Check-out: 10:00am
Minimum Stay Requirements
These minimums are for all guests in your booking
- Two-night minimum on weekends.
- Two-night minimum during school holiday weekdays.
- Three-night minimum school holiday weekends.
- Three-night minimum long weekends. Thurs- Sun or Fri – Mon
- Four-night minimum for Easter weekend
- One-night stays on Fridays or Saturdays may be accepted @ $30 pp p/n
subject to availability. Please call on the day of your intended stay to book.
After-Hours Arrivals
Running late? Please let us know by 3:00 PM on your arrival day. You can complete our Online Check-In Form or grab a paper form at the Reception veranda, then place it in the letterbox upon arrival where you can also collect your vehicle tag.
Vehicle Identification
All vehicles associated with the booking must display the supplied Mt Barney Lodge vehicle tag clearly on the dashboard for the duration of the stay. Collect tags at check-in or follow after hours check in.
Security Preauthorization
When checking into accommodation, a $200 preauthorization will be placed on your card for any accidental damages or extra cleaning needs. This hold is promptly released following departure once our team has checked the property.
Changes & Cancellations
We understand that plans can change. Please see the cancellation policies below for accommodation and camping bookings.
1. Accommodation Cancellation Policy
Applies to the homesteads, huts and camper trailers:
Prior to arrival…
- 29+ days: Full refund or future stay voucher (less $50 administration fee).
- 28–14 days: 50% of booking value is transferable to a future stay voucher (less $50 administration fee).
- Less than 14 days: No refund or transfer available; full payment forfeited.
2. Camping Cancellation Policy
Applies to all camping bookings, General Creekside and Exclusive sites
Prior to arrival….
- 29+ days: Full refund or future stay voucher (less $30 administration fee).
- 28–14 days: 50% refundable or transferable (less $30 administration fee).
- Less than 14 days: No refund or transfer available; full payment forfeited.
Important Information
- Administration fee: $50 per accommodation booking, and $30 per camping booking deducted from any refund or voucher.
- Voucher validity: Future stay vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
- Voucher use: Vouchers are subject to availability and may be used towards a future stay. Any price difference must be paid by the guest.
- Cancellation requests: Must be submitted in writing.
- Refund processing: Approved refunds will be processed to the original payment method within 5–10 business days, where practicable.
- Adding Guests: We love sharing this amazing place with more people! Last-minute additions are always welcome, subject to availability.
- Reducing Guests: If you need to reduce the number of guests in your booking, please take a look at our cancellation policy for details on how changes and refunds are handled.
Electric Vehicle charging
Please note that EV charging facilities are not available at Mt Barney Lodge. We are simply not equipped to offer this to our guests. For safety reasons, any vehicle found plugged in for charging will be disconnected and a $200 fee will be applied to your account.
Severe Weather
Weather Camping is an outdoor activity, so guests should be prepared for changing weather conditions.
If severe weather makes access to Mt Barney Lodge unsafe or inaccessible, we may cancel or postpone bookings and offer a transfer.
Rain alone does not qualify for a cancellation or transfer.
Camping
Firewood and Ice Purchases: Firewood is available for purchase at $20 per bag. Ice is $6.50 per bag both available during Reception hours:
- Monday – Thursday: 8:00am – 4:00pm
- Friday: 8:00am – 6:00pm
- Saturday – Sunday: 9:00am – 3:00pm
Firewood Collection:
Guests are welcome to collect fallen sticks from around the property for their fires, but please ensure trees are not cut or damaged.
Campfires:
Please use only the fire rings provided for campfires, or you are welcome to bring your own self-contained firepit, as long as it doesn’t scorch the grass.
Rubbish and Equipment:
Guests must dispose of all rubbish in the bins provided and take any broken equipment with them when they leave.
Grey Water:
Grey water must be collected in a bucket and emptied onto the grass away from the camping area. Please note that grey water hoses left on the ground are not permitted.
Gillies Outlook, Saddleback Ridge and Cazaly Exclusive Campsites
Vehicles and Driving
Do not drive to the amenities block only use vehicles to leave the property for hikes and enjoying the rest of what the Scenic Rim has to offer.
Campfires
You are welcome to enjoy a campfire using only the provided fire rings, or you may bring your own self-contained firepit, as long as it doesn’t scorch the grass.
Black Water Disposal
Black water, including waste from chemical toilets, must never be disposed of anywhere on the property, in the creek, or in the amenities. We rely completely on a septic system, and these chemicals will disrupt it and will cause us to close.
Water Access
Water is available at these sites for filling containers only. Please do not connect hoses directly to your van, vehicle, or trailer.
Grey Water
Grey water hoses are not permitted. Instead, please collect grey water in a bucket and empty it onto the grass, away from the camping area.
Rubbish and Equipment
Please use the provided bins for your rubbish, and remember to take any broken equipment with you when you depart.
Day Visitors
We love welcoming day visitors! To make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time, we just ask that you:
- Check in: Please pop into Reception as soon as you arrive.
- Visitor Fee: Pay a $10 fee per guest.
- Respect the Property: Keep our standard property rules in mind during your visit.
Pets
Designated Areas: Dogs are very welcome in our exclusive campsite areas only. Please keep them on a lead at all times, use the main driveway when moving on and off the property, and dispose of pet waste in the provided bins. For full details, please refer to our Exclusive Campsite Agreement.
Noise & Respect
Mt Barney Lodge is a peaceful rural property, and we want every guest to enjoy a relaxing bush camping experience.
Children: We love hearing kids enjoy their time at Mt Barney Lodge but parents and guardians must actively supervise children at all times. Please advise children of the best ways to walk around camp so as not to walk through fellow campers sites.
Music: Keep the volume low enough that the sound stays entirely within your own site. If a neighboring camper can hear your music it is too loud
Generators, motorbikes and chainsaws are not permitted at Mt Barney Lodge.
Speed limit 10klm: All roads and tracks are shared by vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists. Please drive slowly and take care. The speed limit on all internal roads is 10 km/h, and each vehicle remains the responsibility of its registered owner.
Quiet time is from 10:00pm until 7:00am.
Management reserves the right to ask guests to leave if their behaviour negatively affects others.
Fire Safety
To keep our campground and surrounding natural environment safe, fires are strictly limited to designated areas. Please ensure campfires are kept within provided fire rings or self-contained firepits, and do not move fire rings under any circumstances. Always extinguish fires completely before leaving your site unattended or retiring for the night. During fire bans fires will not be permitted.
Smoking
Smoking and vaping are prohibited inside and on verandahs of all accommodation and camper trailers, around amenities, and anywhere posing a fire risk. Additional cleaning fees apply if required.
Linen Hire
Linen isn’t included with your stay, but is available to hire for accommodation bookings at $25 per person (please note linen hire is not available for camping). Please book in advance, as late requests are subject to availability and may be provided as folded linen only. Wilful damage will be charged at replacement value.
Cleaning & Damage
Checking out: We’d really appreciate it if you could leave your accommodation reasonably clean when it’s time to head off. For a little guidance, we’ve left a handy departure checklist right by the sink!
Furniture: To help us keep our spaces looking their best for everyone, we kindly ask that you leave the furniture right where it is.
Lost Property
Lost property is held for two weeks.
Guests are responsible for arranging collection of or providing a prepaid satchel for items.
Unclaimed items will be donated.
National Park and surrounding farmland
Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service independently manages Mt Barney National Park.
Closures do not automatically qualify for refunds or transfers.
Guests are encouraged to check park alerts before booking and arriving.
Guests must not cross fences or gates into animal paddocks.
Animals can be unpredictable, so guests must stay alert and supervise children at all times.
Potential hazards on the property include snakes, spiders, ticks and stonefish in the creek. All animal interactions are at the guest’s own risk.
Travel Insurance
Mt Barney Lodge is not liable if guests are unable to take up their booking due to illness, injury, medical admission, weather events, or other unforeseen circumstances. You may consider travel insurance.
We are also not responsible for loss or damage to guests’ valuables or personal property during their stay.
